Apply to become a Nebraska vacation guide

LINCOLN, NEB. (February 5, 2007)—Wanted: Outgoing, dynamic individuals who excel at communicating and making a lasting impression, and who know how to promote all that Nebraska has to offer travelers and tourists. That is the essence of a Nebraska vacation guide. Applications are being accepted February 5-23 in the Nebraska State Personnel office for the temporary, seasonal work that begins May 17 and ends September 30, 2007.

 

Vacation guides are needed to staff 16 welcome centers along Interstate 80, a welcome center in Sioux City, Iowa, (in conjunction with the state of Iowa), and new this year, the Corp of Discovery Welcome Center near Crofton, Neb

 

Job duties include helping visitors with services related to their travel plans, including mapping routes, and making accommodation reservations; reordering and refreshing travel literature for their center; performing basic record-keeping; and undertaking any work or tasks that help sell Nebraska’s positive image.

 

Full and part-time positions are available at centers along I-80, and in Sioux City, Iowa, and the Crofton, Neb.-Yankton, S.D. areas.

Those individuals who are selected must be able to provide their own housing and transportation to and from their work site. First, second and third year staff also must participate in a paid training/guided tour through eastern Nebraska, May 17-22, and work at least one eight hour shift per weekend.
