Gov. Heineman Applauds Minden Manufacturer for Elite Certification

(Minden, Neb.) Gov. Dave Heineman attended an event celebrating a milestone for Royal Plastic Mfg., Inc., which recently became the first Nebraska company to receive Nadcap certification. Based in Minden, Royal Plastic is one of only 42 composite manufacturers in the world to receive the designation.

“With this designation Royal Plastic joins an elite group of businesses and is now ready to compete on an international level,” Gov. Heineman said. “From a company that started out with just two employees and grew into a team of 75 workers producing specialized materials for some of America’s leading companies, this certification represents a significant opportunity when it comes to attracting new customers.”

Nadcap was originally known as the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program. Nadcap certification indicates a high level of product quality that is recognized industry-wide. In addition to the latest Nadcap certification, Royal Plastic has also completed AS9100B certification, a distinction held by only two other Nebraska-based companies.

Phillip Gill, owner and president of Royal Plastic, said, “We as a company have made it a priority to work towards meeting the highest in quality standards. Achieving the Nadcap certification is a highlight because it will allow our company to compete with leading companies in Europe, China and elsewhere for prime defense work.”

Royal Plastic Mfg., Inc., began as a processor of plastics in 1949, growing into manufacturer of composite and fiberglass parts for the aerospace and oil-patch industries. Products developed by the company can be found on the space shuttle, Apache helicopters, F-15 and F-18 fighter jets, and as part of GPS satellites.

Brian Johnson, Quality Manager for Royal Plastics, said, “Royal Plastic Manufacturing becoming Nadcap-accredited is the culmination of a year-long effort. This accomplishment is a tribute to our dedicated employees who have worked so hard to make Royal what it is today – a world-class facility.”
