CDBG certification workshop set for July 25-28 in LincolnLINCOLN, NEB. (June 30, 2006)—The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) process from beginning to end will be covered during a workshop held July 25-28 in Lincoln at the Villager Courtyard & Gardens, 5200 O St. The registration deadline is July 17. The first day’s training, scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. is primarily geared to the needs of local government staff working with CDBG funds in the Planning and Public Works categories. Material will include the nuts and bolts of contractual requirements, the environmental review process, requesting funds, and reporting requirements. Individuals who are interested in becoming “Certified Grant Administrators” must attend the July 26-28 portion of the workshop, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and pass a final examination administered on July 28. All grantees who receive CDBG funding from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development must have a Certified Grant Administrator. However, the examination is optional for those who want to attend the workshop and training, but forego certification. Workshop registration will get underway July 25, 9-9:30 a.m., and July 26, 8-8:30 a.m. A detailed agenda will be available upon registration. Workshop fees will vary according to whether individuals register for one, three, or four days. However, all fees will include a CDBG Administration Manual, pertinent workshop materials, and at least one lunch and break. A block of rooms have been reserved until July 18.
