LINCOLN, NEB. (October 27, 2006)—Governor Dave Heineman awarded $355,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to the village of Adams to develop the road leading to the new E Energy Adams, LLC, ethanol plant. The plant will employ 26 full-time employees. In addition to the direct employment, economic analysis indicated the project could create an additional 96 secondary jobs in Gage and surrounding counties.
Through an inter-governmental agreement, Adams will funnel $350,000 CDBG funding into the project along with Gage County, which is constructing, and/or improving approximately 9,240 feet north-south road leading from the ethanol plant to State Highway 41. The remaining $5,000 will be available to Adams for administrative costs.
Gage County will contribute $400,000 matching funds to the project.
E Energy Adams will initially be designed to produce 50 million gallons per year with goals to expand it to 100 million gallons. The plant should be in full production in fall 2007.
Administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, CDBG funds assist with the development of businesses and communities throughout the state. Federal funds are made available to Nebraska from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s CDBG program.
