Use your company supply chains as "competitive weapons" (April 26) PDF Print E-mail

LINCOLN, NEB. (April 26, 2005)--John Wees, a UPS (United Parcel Service) market analyst, who manages national accounts in the West Region and Prairie Mountain Region (including Nebraska), will present "Charting the Next Supply Chain Generation" on Tuesday, May 10, 8-9:15 a.m. at the Connectivity Solutions manufacturing facility, 120th and I sts., in Omaha. A continental breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m.

Wees' presentation is being sponsored by the newly-formed Nebraska Logistics Council (NCL) to heighten awareness of the Council's goals and objectives among world-wide transportation, warehousing, distribution, and logistics leaders. The Council's mission is to provide members with opportunities for networking and exchanging ideas. Its membership includes corporate officers and leaders from Fortune 500, major Nebraska companies, and one- person operations, account executives, and logistics support staff.

Wees' experience and presentation closely matches the Council's objectives of promoting greater knowledge of logistics, and teaching and encouraging "Best Practices" in logistics management, among many other things. For more information, visit the NCL website: www.nebraskalogisticscouncil.com

Once you understand, tighten, and synchronize your supply chains, treating them as "competitive weapons," said Wees, you'll experience a noticeable impact in the five key business metrics of finance, new business growth, product differentiation, customer service, and quality and productivity.

In 24 years with UPS, Wees has plenty examples of companies whose growth and climbing profits can be linked to their supply chain strategies. Wees began as a package handler, and eventually worked as a pick-up and delivery driver. He's held positions throughout the company, including sales and marketing, customer shipping systems, business planning, teleservice and telesales operations, marketing communications and special events. An Omaha native, Wees has a MBA from Bellevue University and is a former board member of the Omaha Logistics Council.
