The Department of Economic Development has placed several field staff in office locations across the state to better meet the needs of communities and businesses.  The field staff provide technical assistance for a variety of business development issues and assist communities to meet their economic development goals.  Services and technical assistance includes:

• Entrepreneurship development
• Business retention
• Expansion of existing businesses
• Identifying financing opportunities
• Business startup assistance
• Organizing the community for economic development
• Developing and maintaining online community and industrial site and building databases (LOIS/NEDI)
• Completing industrial site evaluations
• Establishing and maintaining a “controlled site” for business development
• Identifying and addressing workforce development issues
• Organizing a visitation team to meet with potential businesses and industries
• Conducting a mock prospect visit
• Infrastructure development for business attraction or retention
• Business ownership transfer
• Identifying industry targets
• Identifying business development tax incentives
