State launches new economic development Web site (May 1) PDF Print E-mail

LINCOLN, NEB. (May 1, 2007)—Accessing information about community and economic development programs and services in Nebraska became a whole lot easier this morning. That’s when the Nebraska Department of Economic Development’s (DED) sleek new Website (www.neded.org) went online for users worldwide.

“The site had to be responsive to customers’ needs for information on a wide range of topics, yet not confuse or overwhelm them with text and clutter,” said Richard Baier, DED director. “We believe that the new Web site strikes the right balance of up-to-date, concise information and a consistent and streamlined design that both represent the department’s quality programs and services, and invites people to further explore what Nebraska can offer them.

New features include:

  • Scrolling photographs depicting the state’s progressive business and industries, innovative universities and colleges, abundant cultural and recreational offerings, rich history, and beautiful and diverse landscapes.
  • On-demand pdf creation.
  • Simplified categories and links to departmental programs and services.
  • Greater accessibility to all departmental programs and services throughout the entire Web site.
  • A more fluid, dynamic site that allows for readily updated information.

An internal information technology and marketing design team spent several months soliciting information from DED staff and constructing the site, before it was emailed to external clients and internal staff for testing and critique late last month.
