NORFOLK, NEB. (Aug. 4, 2005)--Henry R. Thieman, board chairman, presented the 2005 Partnership Award to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development at the Northeast Nebraska Economic Development District's Annual Banquet on Friday, July 29, in Norfolk for its continuous support and collaboration with the District and its members. The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has worked closely with District staff to assure successful completion of business recruitment and expansion projects, community infrastructure projects, and housing development projects. Since 1992, the Department of Economic Development has awarded more than $48 million in grant funds for District member projects.

Governor Dave Heineman was the special guest and keynote speaker and assisted with the celebration of the past year's achievements, including the award of more than $7.1 million in grants and low-interest loans, and the creation/retention of 725 jobs in the 16-county region served by the District.
