LINCOLN, NEB. (Sept. 16, 2005)—A free October 6 public hearing and meeting will focus on rules and regulations for Nebraska’s new Value-Added Grant (VAG) program and initiate discussion about application guidelines for this program and the new Building Entrepreneurial Communities (BEC) Grant program. The BEC grant program will provide grants up to $75,000 with dollar for dollar minimum matches from local governments (not to exceed a total of $250,000 annually) to rural communities to implement projects in which partners collaborate to tackle issues related to chronic economic distress, unemployment, lower-than-average per capita income, and severe population loss.
