Applications accepted June 1-July 25
LINCOLN, NEB. (May 15, 2008)—Eligible local governments are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to apply for a second round of approximately $1.5 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to be awarded in the housing owner-occupied rehabilitation category.  The Nebraska Department of Economic Development will only accept applications from June 1 to July 25, 2008, based on the U.S. Postal Service postmark, or official date of receipt via other means of delivery. 
Applicants with eligible applications submitted in the first round may have projects considered in Round 2 by contacting Brian Gaskill at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or by submitting an application during the Round 2 cycle.  Communities that are participating in the Department’s Comprehensive Revitalization program are not eligible to apply. 
Each application must be for an owner-occupied rehabilitation program to serve low-and-moderate-income households in that single community. Funds will be awarded by selecting the highest scoring application in each of the Nebraska Affordable Housing Program Investment Zones:  Northeast, Southeast, Central and West.  The remaining funds will be awarded to the remaining highest scoring applications regardless of geographic location.
