2008 Vacation Guide Tour called a success

LINCOLN, NEB. (June 13, 2008)—The Nebraska Vacation Guides toured the state this spring to learn about the state’s great attractions, restaurants and destinations. The Guides will work in rest stops throughout the state during the tourist heavy summer months, and offer a wealth of information to the Nebraska traveler.

“The Nebraska Vacation Guide Training Tour is a vital way to give the new Vacation Guides a first-hand look at all Nebraska has to offer,” said Ann Bierbower, Vacation Guide Coordinator for the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. “Seeing Nebraska attractions are exciting and the Guides convey their enthusiasm to the travelers they see every day.”

The Guides traveled through Grand Island, visiting lodging establishments, Fonner Park, Heartland Events Center and Island Oasis Water Park, among other sites. In Hastings, they saw the Hastings Museum and learned about Kool-Aid Days.

Other stops on the multiple-day tour included the Superior Estates Winery in Superior, the Red Cloud Opera House and Webster County Museum in Red Cloud, and the Robert Henri Museum in Cozad. The Guides toured a number of communities, including Cambridge, Holdrege, Lexington, Gothenburg, Dunning, Anselmo, Broken Bow, Comstock, Calamus, Burwell, Fort Hartsuff, Ord, Scotia, Loup City, St. Paul, Dannebrog, Kearney and Minden.

The trip concluded with the Nebraska Travel Association’s Brochure Swap in Kearney, where the Vacation Guides received materials for the summer and had a chance to learn more about the state during the Nebraska Vacation Guide Trade Show.
