National Attractions Barometer helps destinations monitor stats

LINCOLN, NEB. (July 16, 2008)-The Travel Industry of America's National Council of Attractions recently launched a new feature called the National Attractions Barometer.

The Barometer is the nation's only confidential, online platform that allows attraction sales and marketing professionals, owners and managers the ability to monitor attendance trends by type of attraction, specific geographic region or nationwide. It's easy to use, confidential and free for all attractions, both TIA members and non-members.

"We encourage Nebraska attractions to check out this new resource," said Christian Hornbaker, director of the Nebraska Department of Economic Development's Travel and Tourism Division. "In the current travel climate, information gathering is even more important. The more we can do to remind people of the importance of the travel industry, the better."

Attractions can find the Barometer by visiting http://www.nationalattractionsbarometer.org/. Users can direct specific questions about the tool to Patten Wood at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

TIA developed the Barometer in partnership with The George Washington University's International Institute of Tourism Studies.
