LINCOLN, NEB. (June 24, 2009)—Blue Valley Community Action, based in Fairbury, Neb., has received $400,000 in Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund (NAHTF) money to help 14 homeowners in Gage, Jefferson, Saline and Thayer counties rehabilitate their homes. Rehabilitation efforts for the homeowners, earning at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income, includes testing for lead paint and homeowner education. NAHTF program funding is administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
The funding will be combined with $30,000 from Blue Valley Community Action weatherization funds.
During the past 16 years, Blue Valley Community Action has developed 191 affordable rental properties and provided weatherization for 4,600 homes in a nine-county service area. It also has managed eight down payment assistance programs, and during the past five years approved rehabilitation loans for approximately 26 homeowners.
