Message from 2012 President
Jeff Scherer
Since 1967 the Nebraska Diplomats have been the leading group of business men and women focusing on economic development across the State. This elite group of executives has given many hours of their time over the years to assist the Nebraska Department of Economic Development in their efforts to enhance the business environment statewide. This rich tradition carries on today and the Diplomats are better than ever. The recent success of the Nebraska Advantage and the Certified Economic Development Community Program are shining examples of that success. As the President of the Diplomats for this next year I hope to extend the great opportunities we have in place and expand in areas that could be improved or enhanced.
In my years of involvement with this fine organization I have noticed one thing that I need your help with. There are a number of great business owners, leaders and executives who, for some unknown reason, are not Diplomats. We all need to do what we can to recruit these business leaders into our group. I suggest you take a look at the tab regarding membership, see who is a Diplomat in your area and determine who among your circle should be, but are not. Please consider this recruitment request and do your best to help increase our membership. As a larger group we can accomplish much more and bring additional help to DED in making the “Good Life” even better.
I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with a Board of Directors that are among the finest business leaders the State has to offer. This talented group of men and women work very hard to help continue the success and tradition mentioned above. They also are willing to give their time and talent to ensure that events like the annual “Passport Weekend” improve and grow each year.
I am humbled and honored to serve as President of the Nebraska Diplomats for this next year and pledge to all of you that I will do my very best to increase our membership and build upon the many great programs in place today. I truly love the State of Nebraska and there is no place I would rather be, even in January. I look forward to working with you and all the Diplomats in this next year.
Best Regards,
Jeffrey M. Scherer, President
